Preparations are underway for Dia de los Muertos tomorrow night

We are all crazy with preparations for tomorrow night's Dia de los Muertos event at Cottonwood Center for the Arts. We are located at 427 E Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, 80903.

Intake of Art for Dia de los Meurtos

Today we started the intake of art to be juried for our upcoming show... Dia de los Meurtos.


Eligibility/Presentation
  • The exhibit is open to everyone. All artwork must be appropriate to the theme of this show. We encourage artists to research the meaning behind Dia de los Muertos. All work must be original and for sale. Giclees are acceptable. All media is acceptable. Work previously exhibited in the Cottonwood gallery may not be entered. Maximum size for $10 entry fee two-dimensional work is approximately 30x40, framed. Larger work $20 entry fee
  • Entries must be recent work.
  • All 2-D entries must be framed or gallery-wrapped and wired for hanging (no saw-tooth hooks).
  • Entries may include 2-D and 3-D, Installation (Altars) and Performance Art.
  • Selected entries must be exhibited for the duration of the show (runs through Nov. 18th)
Fees and Commissions
  • There is a $10 entry fee for each piece of work up to three pieces (larger work $20 fee)
  • A 30% commission on sales will go to Cottonwood Center for the Arts.
Liability
  • Each artist is responsible for his/her own insurance to cover theft or damage to artwork. While the utmost care will be taken in the handling of artwork, in the event of damage to the artwork or framing, Cottonwood will not be liable. Submission of work constitutes an agreement to abide by the rules as set forth in this prospectus.
Calendar
  • Delivery of artwork to be juried – Oct. 21st between (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.) & Oct. 22nd between (10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Artwork Juried – Oct. 25th. Appt. for Performance Pieces must be scheduled.
  • Phone notification of acceptance or declined entries Oct. 25th after 2 p.m.
  • Pickup of artwork not accepted – Oct. 26th between (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) Entry fees are non-refundable.
  • Show runs through Nov. 17th.
  • Pick Up Dates – Nov. 18th & 19th , between (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
  • Payment for Artwork Sales – Nov. 29th & 30th.

Cottonwood Artist School

Cottonwood Artists' School offers weekly classes in oil painting, drawing, watercolor, fine art collage, and sculpture for adults and teens with an emphasis on traditional methods. These courses give students a firm foundation in all of the elements of visual art. Many of these course are accredited through University of Colorado - Colorado Springs.

Weekly classes run for eight-weeks and are offered several times a year. These classes are for the serious emerging artist as well as for the beginner who has a passion for art.

All Cottonwood classes are taught by professional artists such as Chuck Mardosz, Gwen Fox, and Tom Owen

Class and Workshop Schedule

Cottonwood Artists' School offers weekly classes in oil painting, drawing, watercolor, fine art collage, and sculpture for adults and teens with an emphasis on traditional methods. These courses give students a firm foundation in all of the elements of visual art. Many of these course are accredited through University of Colorado - Colorado Springs.

Weekly classes run for eight-weeks and are offered several times a year. These classes are for the serious emerging artist as well as for the beginner who has a passion for art.

All Cottonwood classes are taught by professional artists such as Chuck Mardosz, Gwen Fox, and Tom Owen

Class fees are listed in the course description. They vary based on membership status. Membership starts at $20 annually.

New Class Policies:
Refunds are not available within two weeks of the beginning of a weekly class.
